In an unbelievable turn of events, under fire Scottish goalkeeper Allan McGregor carried on playing online poker despite being questioned by police. Now we fully understand that when you’re hot you don’t want to stop but perhaps this is a touch too far. The 28 year old was being questioned by CID after being battered around the face. As the police questioned the Rangers player for two hours to try and find the culprit for his black eyes they were left dumbfounded as he refused to stop playing poker.
McGregor had taken a bit of a pasting both by his manager and some unknown assailant after he staggered out of a club in the early hours of the morning. One person who has spoken of her innocence following lurid claims from several sources is the burly goalkeeper’s lovely fiancé Leah Shevlin “Anyone who thinks I did it needs their head examined. Allan is 6ft 2in tall and I’m 5ft 4in. I couldn’t possibly physically hurt him.”
McGregor is the latest footballer to demonstrate his passion for the game, following in the footsteps of ex-Tottenham and Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham who finished 14th at the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe. Newcastle United players have admitted that the players are all hosting poker nights and thank the bonding sessions for the great team spirit this season following their disastrous relegation last year.
