UK Poker Braced for Big September

EPO 2010This September poker will take centre stage in the UK with some huge tournaments like the English Poker Open the World Series of Poker Europe as well as poker festivals like Poker in the Park in Leicester Square. This august and September, London will become the centre of the poker world with all the big names competing for some of the biggest tournaments in the world.

The English Poker Open is the newest member of the UK Poker scene and has finally provided England with its own major poker tournament. The first English Poker Open was held in 2009 at the Dusk till Dawn poker club in Nottingham. The event was a huge success with some of the world’s best joining Europe’s poker talent for the guaranteed prize pool of $1m.

Notable players to play last year included Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Annette Obrestad, James Akenhead, Praz Bansi, Marty Smyth, Neil Channing, Dave Ulliott, Julian Threw and Liv Boeree. Sandwiched between some other great events the English Poker Open looks to be going from strength to strength.

The World Series of Poker Europe will be Ton Dwan’s last chance to secure a bracelet this year and win the millions of dollars on the line in side best he has with some of Las Vegas’ highest stakes players. The total is rumoured to be well over $10m if he is able to win a bracelet this year.
