The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour’s latest stop was in Luton this last weekend and a familiar face walked away with the title. Neil Channing showed his class and experience in utterly dominating this event to take home the title on August 15th.
The event held at the G Casino in Luton was seen as a warm up to many for the upcoming English Poker Open, WPT and WSOPE that will all be heading to London along with the EPT this September and October. English and European poker players are fine tuning their games for these huge tournaments and it looks like veteran poker star Neil Channing is in great form.
Channing won £101,958 by winning the GUKPT Luton stop to take his total live tournament winnings to in excess of $2.7m. He slalomed through a field of 229 players and rarely looked in danger taking a huge chip lead when the field was reduced to the final table.
Fellow pros Jeff Kimber and Joe Grech both made the final table and their fifth GUKPT final table in total. Neither was able to put the brakes on Channing’s runaway victory as they were eliminated in 8th and 9th place respectively.
When the tournament reached heads up Channing had Adebayo Odetoyinbo outchipped enormously and their battle barely lasted a few minutes before Channing picked up another title and another stack of cash.
Neil Channing £64,050
Adebayo Odetoyinbo £43,500

Joe Grech £6,300
Jeff Kimber £4,600
Victor V Ilyukhin £4,000
