Channing won £101,958 by winning the GUKPT Luton stop to take his total live tournament winnings to in excess of $2.7m. He slalomed through a field of 229 players and rarely looked in danger taking a huge chip lead when the field was reduced to the final table.

Fellow pros Jeff Kimber and Joe Grech both made the final table and their fifth GUKPT final table in total. Neither was able to put the brakes on Channing’s runaway victory as they were eliminated in 8^th and 9^th place respectively.

When the tournament reached heads up Channing had Adebayo Odetoyinbo outchipped enormously and their battle barely lasted a few minutes before Channing picked up another title and another stack of cash.

The English Poker Open is the newest member of the UK Poker scene and has finally provided England with its own major poker tournament. The first English Poker Open was held in 2009 at the Dusk till Dawn poker club in Nottingham. The event was a huge success with some of the world’s best joining Europe’s poker talent for the guaranteed prize pool of $1m.
