If like the team at Rakeback.co.uk you are sick to the back teeth of the morning dilemma of what to wear this summer. Will it be sunny, will it rain, will it be cold or will the tube be a similar experience to that of sitting in a sauna with 100 other people who have never been introduced to deodorant , well our entertainment salvation has presented itself!
For our favourite annual festival which does not require the participants to wear willies, sleep in tents and drink warm beer is almost here. It may be in a new location but Poker in the Park V is expected to be bigger and better than ever.
Along with over 20,000 visitors and several free poker tournaments that are the staple of the Poker in the Park experience (we were not going to mention, but now feel it is remiss to exclude the abundance of scantily clad promo girls) this year there will also be the presentation to winners of the British Poker Awards.
Ironically given the name of London’s most fun poker event it has never actually been hosted in a park and due to the constant updates London is subjected to for the pleasure of hosting the Olympics, the event has moved from Leicester Square to Hanover Square.
While the summer may have been a damp squib temperatures will surly rise when the lovely Liv Boeree makes her annual appearance. One does wonder what the mood will be like given the recent “Black Friday” ramifications. Food for mild and probably short spanned thought there.
If you are planning a trip to PITP here is a tip, DO listen to people promoting their goods and wears. It is one of the few times companies operating online get to step away from the artificially lit offices, unchain themselves from the keyboards (although not their IPads) and actually meet the people who play online poker face to face! Therefore we like to mark the occasion by giving away freebies, bonuses and other tantalising items the marketing team has bought with their budgets.
So, until the 3rd leave your jumper, sunscreen and umbrella where they belong and play a few hands of poker from the temperate safety of your armchair whilst enjoying one of our many rakeback promotions.

It’s a busy month in Poker. First we had Black Friday and now a semi-expected announcement from Merge about rakeback.

You will all receive a full newsletter about this but in the mean time we thought it best that we clear up what is being said about the future of Rakeback on the Merge Poker Network.
Following several rumours in poker world, Merge have announced that they will end Rakeback for New Players as of 1st June. We have no information at this time regards what will happen after that but we suspect new players will have to sign up via the normal VIP programs.

What this means is that you have about 3 weeks to sign up for a Merge room to take advantage of a fixed rakeback rate of 35% But don’t take too long to think about it in case they move the goal posts. And don’t forget to be a good buddy and tell a friend!

Carbon Poker welcome US and Non-US players alike and all offer the following:

•	35% Rakeback paid daily to your account.
•	VIP Programs worth between 5-15%
•	Sign up bonuses between $600 and $2000
•	Lots of internal promotions.

And in addition they offer the following:

•	$10,000 Personal Rake Chase – up to 40%
•	Free iPad for raking $10k before 31st July
•	DragTheBar Training Free each month
•	Upgrade to the top VIP level ETHER for Stars SN/SNE and FT Black Card players
•	$25 just for signing up and raking $25

SIGN UP TO CARBON POKER AND GET RAKEBACK

EPT creator and all round poker nice guy reveals his thoughts on the new breed of poker celebrity and his bull riding past in the third exclusive Pro Poker Player interview at Rakeback.co.uk

[PRESS RELEASE, London, UK]
Leading UK Poker Cashback site, Rakeback.co.uk, published the third exclusive pro poker player interview this week with the creator of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and all round poker nice guy – John Duthie.

This BAFTA wining TV producer and Director famed for programs like Clocking Off and Silent Witness reveals what he thinks about the new breed of pro poker players or “Poker Ego’s” that has arisen since his early debuts on televised poker.

“Silly hats, stupid clothes, absurd behaviour….it’s all cringe making” John Duthie – (excerpt from interview)

The exclusive John Duthie Interview also allows the creator of one of Europe largest live poker tournament series, to give poker fans an insight into the man behind the million dollar poker winner.

Despite earning millions from playing poker John reveals how he does not consider himself to be a pro player and that his abilities and constantly questioned, perhaps one of the reasons he would not encourage his two sons to appear on the EPT circuit anytime time soon.

This interview with Rakeback.co.uk provides poker fans the opportunity to see a different side of the successful players within the industry. When asked about what he [Duthie] would like to see happening in to poker in the next 5 years his reply was not of bigger prizes, more glamorous venues and raising profiles but of a more considered sensible approach:

“I would like to see younger players realise that there is more to life than just poker and whilst they may have made large amounts of money would hope that they learn to do something else in life. Wealth is so much more than material as we all come to learn” Duthie – (excerpt from interview)

Above all John Duthie is a family orientated man who regards happiness as the ultimate success and waits for the day when his wife walks the dogs!
Read John Duthie Interview

Full Tilt Poker Pro and all round best player in the world Phil Ivey secured his 8th World Series of Poker bracelet yesterday in the $3,000 HORSE event and swiftly proclaimed that he could win 30 bracelets by the time he leaves the table for good. He is currently fifth in the all time list at the age of 33 with only Johnny Moss, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth ahead of him in bracelet wins.

Ivey won his incredible 8th bracelet after defeating a final table of truly world class proportions. John Juanda, Chad brown, Bill Chen and David Baker have all won World Series of Poker bracelets and against this backdrop this 8th bracelet victory must taste even sweeter for Ivey. Having won the tournament he questioned how much the prize was having no idea as he entered the final table. Only a man who has won $10m since June 2009 could ask such a question where others would have memorised the payouts well in advance.

Ivey defeated Bill Chen heads up and when questioned to the root of his success he responded “I never doubt myself” even though he was one of the small stacks throughout the closing stages. Britain’s David Baker made another deep run in the tournament to cement this as his best World Series of Poker whilst john Juanda was glad to be back at another final table eventually finishing 3rd.

The final hand of this illustrious tournament was played in Razz and Ivey and Chen committed on fifth street with strong low hands. Ivey made a 6 low to beat Chen’s seven low before rivering a wheel to end the tournament on a sweet note and collect the bracelet and inconsequential $329, 840. This win further enhance his reputation and his lead in the all-time tournament winnings race against Daniel Negreanu and Jamie gold.

Phil Ivey plays at Full Tilt Poker and his recent performances online have shown his abilities in the high stakes cash game arena where he is both feared and respected as one of the all time greats. Interestingly none of his 8 bracelet wins have come playing No limit hold em which is the game at which he conquers all at the highest stakes.

In 2008 Liv Boeree announced her presence on the European poker scene with a win at the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship. Yesterday in San Remo she went one step further by becoming only the second female winner on the European Poker Tour. Boeree fought back from a 4:1 chip deficit three handed to take first prize and the €1,250,000.

The final table in San Remo was as follows at the start of the day:

Seat 1: Claudio Piceci – 4,460,000
Seat 2: Alexey Rybin – 1,890,000
Seat 3: Atanas Gueorguiev – 2,520,000
Seat 4: Jakob Carlsson – 13,525,000
Seat 5: Giuseppe Diep – 1,830,000
Seat 6: Liv Boeree – 3,440,000
Seat 7: Toni Pettersson – 5,035,000
Seat 8: Michael Piper – 4,600,000

Atanas Gueorguiev was first to leave after he lost a race with his 99 against Toni Pettersson’s AQ to leave himself with only 200,000 in chips. He was out shortly after his J6 losing to Alexey Rybin’s KJ. Caludio Piceci was next to go after bluffing at a big pot with Carlsson holding top pair. Carlsson made the call and Piceci was out in seventh place. Giuseppe Diep followed swiftly as his pre flop all in with 9c8c lost to Carlsson’s pocket 10s. Rybin left in fifth place after flopping top pair top kicker on a 10 8 2 board only for Carlsson to turn over pocket jacks.

Michael Piper was out in fourth place his Qh10h losing to the AK of Carlsson after all the chips went in pre-flop. As we went three handed Jakob Carlsson held 25 million chips to Pettersson’s 6 million and Boeree’s 5.5 million. Three handed was a real battle and Boeree started to accumulate chips. The big hand saw Pettersson flop top pair on a Kd4s3s board with KQ in the hole. All the chips went in after some serious tanking from Pettersson. Boeree was only too happy to turn over her pocket 3s and the bottom set.

Heads up lasted a couple of hours with a dinner break in the middle. Boeree was able to dominate the confrontation and capitalised on her chip lead. All the chips finally went in pre-flop with Boeree’s 55 against Carlsson’s A6. With no Ace or six Boeree was free to pick up the winner’s cheque.

The Final Standings:

1 – Liv Boeree — €1,250,000
2 – Jakob Carlsson — €750,000
3 – Toni Pettersson — €420,000
4 – Michael Piper — €345,000
5 – Alexey Rybin — €270,000
6 – Giuseppe Diep — €210,000
7 – Claudio Piceci — €150,000
8 – Atanas Gueorguiev — €90,000
